Each of the predefined TaskMap reports can be output in multiple formats; you choose the desired format when you run the report.
Storing Report Data in a TaskMap
Two of the report formats place report output on the TaskMap drawing page:
- Microsoft Excel (shape) Saves report output in an Excel spreadsheet shape that is placed onto the current drawing page (Visio 2002 only)
- Visio Shape Saves report output in a Visio table shape that is placed onto the current drawing page
If you chose either of the output options above, you can rerun or update the report at any time by right-clicking the report shape.
Storing Report Data in External Files
Three of the report formats save data to an external file:
- Excel Saves report output in an Excel spreadsheet you designate at run time
- HTML Saves report output as an HTML table in a file you designate at run time
- XML Saves report output in an XML file you designate at run time
For most people, exporting to Microsoft Excel provides the most flexibility. Once the data is in Excel, you can manipulate it in any way you would like to produce your own report variations.
Running Reports
When you click the TaskMap Reports button, the list of available reports will vary depending on the version of Visio you are using.
