Data Visualization

TaskMap Professional builds on the exciting data visualization capabilities of Visio 2007 Professional by providing pre-defined icons, text callouts and graphics that have been designed specifically for enhancing the presentation of process data. Data Graphics

TaskMap Professional provides five additional data fields that you can use to further define the Task shape. Additional fields include:

• Decision Task?
• Risk Number
• Control Number
• User-defined Number
• User-defined Text

The Decision Task

The Decision Task? field is only available with TaskMap Professional. It allows you to indicate whether a Task represents a decision.

NOTE: TaskMap does not display this field on the Task shape; you may use Visio 2007 Professional Data Graphics to display it.

Control Number

The Control Number field is only available with TaskMap Professional and is used to identify controls that may be associated with a Task.

For Sarbanes-Oxley and other compliance applications, the Control Number is often used to identify the specific controls that mitigate the risk for this Task. The number you enter might refer to a database or list of pre-defined controls.

Risk Number

The Risk Number field is only available with TaskMap Professional and is used to indicate that there is risk associated with a Task.

You can use the Risk Number field in any way you’d like. For example, you might

• Enter the number of a risk associated with this Task, for example, the number you enter might refer to a database or list of pre-defined risks.
• Enter a value representing the degree of risk. Some of the pre-defined Visio Data Graphics that you might use to display the Risk Number use a scale of 1 to 5 for this purpose, where 1 means the lowest risk and 5 means the highest risk.

User-defined Number

The User-defined Number field is only available with TaskMap Professional and can be used to store any numeric value associated with this Task.

User- Defined Text

The User-defined Text field is only available with TaskMap Professional and can be used to store any text associated with this Task.

TaskMap® Capture for Excel - Spreadsheet data entry for TaskMap

TaskMap Capture for Excel allows anyone with Microsoft Excel to capture and record key process details. Enter process data into the pre-formatted spreadsheet and the data will appear seconds later in your TaskMap Professional process map. Update entries in the spreadsheet and watch them refresh the TaskMap!

TaskMap Capture for Excel enhances TaskMap Professional by moving data capture where it belongs – into the hands of process owners and process participants. Microsoft Excel users can enter process data into a pre-formatted TaskMap spreadsheet that includes popup help text and dropdown lists for key fields. Knowledge of process mapping software is not required.

Once the data is in the worksheet, it can be used to dynamically update shapes on an existing TaskMap. Or the data can be used to create most of a new TaskMap merely by linking the worksheet to a blank TaskMap. And when users or other applications make changes to the spreadsheet,the TaskMap is updated automatically!

TaskMap Capture for Excel incorporates new fields that are part of TaskMap Professional:
